Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How much does this amazing service cost?
A: It depends on how much work you send us at one time. At the high end, $2.00 per finished minute of audio, plus return shipping to you of your materials and your new CD. At the low end, as little as $1.00 per finished minute. The more you send, the less expensive the service.
Q: Do I send original records?
A: If you must. If you can do a straight transfer to CD with noise and all, that would be better as records are expensive and difficult to ship. If you can’t do this, you can send your records, but do NOT use the postal service. Use Federal Express Economy or Ground service and insure your package properly. We will do the same.
Q: What kinds of noise can you fix?
A: With tapes: we have worked on surveillance recordings where the speaker is far away from the microphone where we have removed air conditioner or other constant noise sources. Also hiss and hum. With respect to records: a lot of the crackles, pops and other surface noise. We cannot, for example, remove the sound of a TV in the background of your tape because it is not a constant noise source. In those cases where the background noise is actually louder than the signal, we’ll do the best we can. If we feel we can’t significantly improve the quality of your source, you only pay for return shipment.
Q: Do I send you money now?
A: No. We’ll stay in touch with you via phone or e-mail to let you know how we’re progressing. When we are finished and ready to ship back to you, we’ll arrange for payment via credit card, check or money order.
Q: Do you have any before and after samples of your audio restoration?
